A Very Fine and Elegant Late 18th-Century George III Period Mahogany Reupholstered Armchair  

A very fine and elegant late 18th century George III period mahogany armchair in the French Hepplewhite taste. The cartouche shaped, undulating backrest, now reupholstered in damask silk with double piping cord trim, is flanked by a pair of padded armrests terminating in scrolled handholds, with down swept supports enclosing a serpentine fronted upholstered seat. The whole is raised on fan headed cabriole legs ending in finely carved scrolled toes.
The antique mahogany frame, enriched by a deep, time worn patina, is beautifully complemented by the updated yellow silk upholstery, which lends a fresh, contemporary note to a truly classic silhouette.
