A fine quality mid-19th century well-figured satinwood and marquetry pedestal desk. It features marquetry boxwood, rosewood, and ebony line inlays throughout, with satinwood panels. The desk has a brass galleried top and a shaped green-tooled leather writing surface. Finished to the rear, it includes a bow-fronted central drawer flanked by four graduating mahogany-lined drawers on each side, all with their original carved brass handles. The desk is supported on square tapering legs ending in original brass castors.
