Very Fine 19th-century French Maple Bureau Bookcase
A fine 19th-century French Louis-Philippe period maple and mahogany bureau bookcase. It features shaped moulded sides and a cornice above a pair of shaped glazed doors with adjustable shelves. Below is a bureau section with three leather-tooled insets, above the standard configuration of a central drawer flanked by two drawers on each side. The piece is raised on very elegant hexagonal tapering legs. It has a wonderful warm color and patina to the wood. France, circa 1870.
