Charming 18th Century Louis XI Period Walnut Commode
A mid-18th-century walnut French provincial commode from the Louis XV period. This chest of drawers features three levels, with a secret drawer situated between the top two drawers, accessible by first opening the drawers on either side. It has a rectangular moulded shaped overhanging top above three short and two long moulded drawers. The drawer fronts are characterized by hand-carved relief outlines. The ornate foliate brass hardware is original and facilitates the smooth opening of each drawer. The piece is finished with a shaped apron and showcases a rich and warm patina.
