A very decorative and elaborate late 19th-century folding scissors Savonarola armchair. It features a carved foliate and twin peacock back rail, leopard head arms, and is inlaid with bone, mother of pearl, ebony, and mixed woods. The chair showcases great detail and has a good patina. The Savonarola chair is a type of folding chair with an X frame when viewed from the front or back. Designed to fold, it was portable and used during campaigns or other outdoor pursuits.
