A George I walnut and feather-banded bureau bookcase, circa 1720. The piece features a moulded cornice above a pair of mirror-panelled doors that open to reveal an adjustable shelf section. Below this are pigeon holes, three small drawers, and a pair of candle slides. The hinged fall front opens to reveal further pigeon holes, small drawers, and a well section with a sliding cover. The bureau stands on bracket feet and has two short and two long drawers below the fall front.
