A very fine 18th century Louis XVI Geometrical marquetry dressing table or coiffeuse. The rectangular top divided into three framed parquetry panels, the outer two hinging outwards to reveal box sections, while the central section reveals an adjustable mirror. The front with four drawers and writing slide, all standing on square tapering legs terminating on brass caps. The different geometric marquetry panels on all sides appear to display and being evidence of the craftsmanship of the cabinetmaker perhaps to qualify as a maître ébéniste. The design of the dressing table with its consequent use of geometric patterns, i.e. lozenges, cubes, triangles etc. within its strict outline in shape appears almost of a modern concept.
