An impressive tall 19th century mahogany, partly gilt masonic throne armchair. The high back with carved and gilt masonic shaped plaques above a green leather back with Corinthian columns to each side, flanked by arms with upholstered green leather elbow pads and carved animal figures raised on carved scrolled uprights, the green leather upholstered seat above a wide foliate carved frieze and raised on correspondingly carved cabriole legs terminating in scrolled carved animal figure feet. The beautiful carving on all the mahogany show parts of the frame are an important indication of the outstanding quality of this rare example. The green leather upholstery is in good condition with great colour, of a neutral tone. This armchair is in overall good condition.
