A stunning quality, early 20th century, Edwardian period mahogany free standing roll top desk from the renown London makers MAPLE & CO. Inlaid throughout with satinwood banding, boxwood and ebony stringing with good quality mahogany linings. The upper section with a moulded mahogany gallery above three banks of drawers above a cylinder roll-top with figured mahogany having a pull out slide which has a hand dyed and gold tooled leather writing surface with hidden finger pulls. The kneehole has an arrangement of 3 figured mahogany and graduated drawers with brass handles. The whole raised on 4 square tapering legs with spade feet. In very good original condition and retaining all the original brass handles, escutcheons and working Hobbs of London brass locks with keys.
