PAIR OF TALL 19TH CENTURY BRASS BARLEY TWIST CANDLESTICKS, C1880

Tall Pair of 19th Century Brass Barley Twist Candlesticks

This impressive pair of late 19th-century Victorian brass candlesticks features elegant openwork spiral stems, (known as barley twist) mounted on heavy, dished circular bases. Crafted in England around 1880, these candlesticks are a testament to the superb craftsmanship of the period and remain in original, untouched, and unblemished condition.
The barley twist motif, inspired by the twisting stalks of barley, was a hallmark of Victorian decorative arts. This open twist design not only adds a sense of lightness and dynamic movement but also showcases the artisan’s skill. Made from solid brass, these candlesticks offer both durability and a rich golden patina that has developed beautifully with age.
Both candlesticks are in exceptional, untouched condition, making them especially desirable for collectors or as striking decorative accents.
These candlesticks would make a sophisticated addition to a mantelpiece, dining table, or sideboard, either as functional candle holders or as a statement piece reflecting Victorian taste and quality. Their timeless form and lovely patina make them equally suited to traditional and eclectic interiors.
