19TH CENTURY FRENCH COLONIAL GLASS CAVE À LIQUEUR, C1880

Quality 19th-century French Glass Cave à Liqueur

A fabulous French 19th-century colonial ormolu and bevelled glass cave à liqueur. The decorative case features bevelled glass panels on all sides and the top, supported on four legs adorned with sculptured elephant heads. The original bevelled glass sides and top are framed within a bamboo design. The top lifts up to reveal an interior with an original mirrored base and a complete set of twelve cordial glasses (four are missing) and four decanters. Each decanter displays finely detailed etched foliate designs and is fitted within richly chased foliate ormolu supports. The entire interior can be removed via an ornate gilded handle. This cave à liqueur is a stunning and highly decorative item.
