A stunning quality 18th-century George III period mahogany bureau bookcase, retaining its original patina. This well-proportioned mahogany bookcase features a moulded cornice above a pair of astragal glazing doors enclosing three adjustable shelves. The flamed mahogany fall front opens to reveal a well-fitted interior with drawers and a shaped leather writing surface, situated above four long graduated drawers. The piece stands on original bracket feet and is adorned with original brass handles on the front and sides. It includes keys and working locks, making it a superb example of Georgian furniture dating from around 1780.
